The Home’s History
Located in the Historic Old Decatur District, just a couple miles from Atlanta, this 1920s craftsman bungalow features a spacious front porch, dense columns, and a wide front façade. At some point, it was divided into a duplex. A kitchen addition was also added – likely in the 1950s or 1960s. Original fireplaces remain in the current living room and dining room, and more may have been removed when the home was converted to a duplex. Beyond the fireplaces, some windows, and the heavily damaged heart pine flooring, little remains of the home’s original charm and detail. The Home’s Future
The homeowners purchased the home with the intention of restoring the exterior to historic standards. At the same time, the entire interior was gutted to create a modern, clean, open home with modern conveniences and aesthetic details.
The finished home is approximately 2,500 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The first floor will feature an open floorplan that includes:
- living room
- dining room
- keeping room
- kitchen
- guest suite
- office
- screened porch
The second level:
- a generously sized master suite
- 2 more bedrooms and bathrooms
- a laundry room
- a small gym space
